Who can work in New Zealand?
If you are an overseas graduate who wishes to work in New Zealand in either a locum or permanent capacity, then Ochre Recruitment can help you find the right pathway.
International Medical Graduates will need to commit to working in New Zealand for a minimum of three months for GPs, and hospital doctors a minimum of twelve months. This allows time to discover how our healthcare system works. There are various pathways to registration which may be relevant – this is best discussed on an individual basis. Medical registration via the Comparable Health or Competent Authority pathways are often used for GPs or registrars, while the Locum Tenens pathway allows a doctor with approved specialist qualifications to work as a locum GP or specialist in New Zealand for up to twelve months.
