New Zealand is a land of astounding natural beauty, with long stretches of coastline, national parks filled with native flora and majestic mountains to explore. Living here comes with an all season’s pass to the great outdoors so you can feel free to explore world-class vineyards, beaches or more adventurous pursuits almost any time it suits. We are a multi-cultural country with cities that support diverse offerings of art, sporting, and cultural events. Kiwis enjoy an enviable lifestyle and good work/life balance, along with decent education options, transport networks, support for technology and innovation and cafes that make extraordinarily good coffee.  New Zealand connects with the rest of the world; along with our national carrier Air New Zealand, approximately twenty-seven other international airlines have regular flights here, placing visits from loved ones back home within easy reach.

If you are interested in opportunities to work in, travel and explore New Zealand then we would love to talk with you.

Who can work in New Zealand?

If you are an overseas graduate who wishes to work in New Zealand in either a locum or permanent capacity, then Ochre Recruitment can help you find the right pathway.

International Medical Graduates will need to commit to working in New Zealand for a minimum of three months for GPs, and hospital doctors a minimum of twelve months. This allows time to discover how our healthcare system works. There are various pathways to registration which may be relevant – this is best discussed on an individual basis. Medical registration via the Comparable Health or Competent Authority pathways are often used for GPs or registrars, while the Locum Tenens pathway allows a doctor with approved specialist qualifications to work as a locum GP or specialist in New Zealand for up to twelve months. Locum Tenens registration can be processed quite quickly, so we can have you living and working in New Zealand within a matter of months. Our primary specialties for locum and permanent jobs include:

•             Rural GP /Hospital GP

•             Emergency Medicine

•             Psychiatry
